Christopher Nelson

We are very sorry to have to let colleagues know that Mr Christopher (Chris) Nelson died on 3 September 2010.

Chris was a valued and long-serving member of Estates (Cleaning Services), who joined the University in 1973. He was a member of the small team which does so much to ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the campus, both internally and externally, with responsibilities ranging from the polishing of floors and the cleaning of soft furnishings, to the collection and disposal of litter. Chris took considerable pride in his work and was well-known, liked and respected both by his immediate colleagues and within the wider University community (with whom his post brought him into regular contact).  In his quiet, undemonstrative way, he would always go out of his way to help others, be they newly-appointed colleagues or visitors to the campus who had lost their way.  Chris will be sadly missed.
