Jo Stone

Colleagues will be sorry to hear of the death of Jo Stone, who died on 17 December, shortly before her 47th birthday.  Jo joined the University Library in 2004 and worked mainly in Customer Services, most recently managing teams in the Edward Boyle and Brotherton Libraries, combining this with roles in the Faculty Teams and the Resource Acquisition Team.  Jo had already suffered the loss of her husband through cancer before falling ill herself and taking ill health retirement this summer, yet throughout all her challenges Jo remained incredibly positive.

The Library’s charity of choice for fundraising this Christmas was St. Gemma's Hospice which gave huge support to both Jo and her two children in recent years, and many staff were moved by the short film about Jo and her family which featured in the BBC’s recent Children in Need appeal.

The Funeral Service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday 6th January at Moortown Baptist Church, followed by a private cremation.

Jo had asked for donations to either St Gemma's Hospice or Macmillan Cancer Support, rather than flowers.  Donations can be made online to St Gemma's at: http://www.st-gemma.co.uk/.  In Jo’s memory the flag on the Parkinson Building will be flown at half-mast on the day of the funeral.
