It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the passing of Richard Northcote, Chief Sustainability Officer at Covestro. Richard was a founding member of the Research International Advisory Board (RIAB) at Leeds University Business School and in that role he served as an inspiration for others on the Board and members of the wider research community at the University of Leeds.
Richard Northcote was a global leader in high performance polymers and a passionate advocate of the triple-bottom line and the UNGC Sustainable Development Goals as strategic tools for business and economic growth. Prior to his role at Covestro, Richard worked in civil engineering, journalism and the chemical sector in a number of European countries, the Middle East and Asia.
Richard sat on the Steering Committee of the Oxford University Business Economics Programme and on the Advisory Boards of Tongji University Sustainability Development Council and Leeds University Business School's Research and Innovation Programme.
Leeds University Business School offer our condolences to the colleagues and loved ones of Richard at this sad time.
Professor Timothy Devinney, Pro-Dean for Research & Innovation and friend of Richard said “I know that I am expressing the opinion of the Advisory Board, our research team, and many in the Faculty, when I offer our most profound condolences. His humility and humour are just two of the many fine qualities we will remember and, sadly, miss in the future.”
