Robert Bruce-Konuah

I completed lots of short work placements throughout my course. It gave me vital industry experience and I could put what I’d learnt in class straight into practice. My first placement was with News UK. I was a semi-finalist in one of their writing competitions and got a place at their summer school, which helps young journalists get into the profession. I also completed a three-week work placement with Radio Aire, a local station. I sat on their news team learning about how journalism works within a radio environment.

The University has given me a great platform to explore new skills and this experience has helped me secure a job with BBC Introducing. My proudest achievements so far have been doing the red carpets for the Sports Personality and MOBO awards, being published by The Times and The Sunday Times and having the confidence to create my own platform for other young people to get industry experience.
