I have found the foundation year to be an ideal transition from the education system back home and the education system in the UK. This is because I was warmly welcomed to the University with an induction week to help me find my way around and interact with the new surroundings.

I found the programme to be academically stimulating and rewarding as we have a good variety of subjects each semester and our hard work is appreciated through achievement awards. Also, each module has a different method of assessment which was challenging to get our heads around and master.

Staff members were always happy to hear from us for feedback or any concerns we may have. Lecturers were friendly and constantly reminded us of office hours. Their continuous help and support helped us feel more welcome at the University.

The transition to my undergraduate course will certainly be easier through studying the foundation year. Having access to various university facilities has given me a real insight of the experience of being an undergraduate here at the university. It created a sense of belonging to the city and university as a whole.

I am proud to do the International Foundation Year programme at University of Leeds as it reaches its 30th anniversary, and is probably one of the oldest in the country.

Also I have enjoyed being a course representative as I interact more with students and faculty and try and work on continuous improvement. I encourage every student to go for it as this is a great experience for personal development and socialising.
