Adding Comments

Comments can be added by clicking on the paper, in the place where the comment should be displayed. Clicking will present you with 3 options; QuickMarks, Bubble comment and Inline comment.

You can add one of your saved QuickMarks by selecting the left icon in the dialogue box.

This will load a list of QuickMarks that you can select to add to the paper. You can change the QuickMark set by selecting the drop down box.

The comment will then appear in the text with the QuickMark title visible to the student.

Custom comments in a bubble

You can add a custom bubble comment by selecting the middle icon in the dialogue box.

A dialogue box will appear where you can type your comment. You now have formatting options, including bold, underline and italics.

Click away from the box and the comment will automatically save and appear in the text as a speech bubble icon.

If you wish to edit or delete a bubble comment, then click on the bubble and make the changes in the dialogue box.


Typing text onto the paper

You can add an inline comment by selecting the right icon in the dialogue box.

An inline box will appear. Type your comments into the box.

You can edit the text comment by clicking in the text box. You can delete the comment by clicking the dustbin icon that appears when you hover over the text comment.

Adding Styles

Styles such as highlights and strikethrough can also be added to the paper. To add the styles, select some text by highlighting it within the paper. This will present you with 3 options:

You can add a QuickMark to the highlighted text by selecting the left icon in the dialogue box.

This will load a list of QuickMarks that you can select to add to the highlight. You can change the QuickMark set by selecting the drop down box.

The comment will then appear on the highlighted text - always connected to the highlight.

You can add a bubble comment to the highlighted text by selecting the middle icon in the dialogue box.

If you wish to edit or delete a bubble comment, then click on the bubble and make the changes in the dialogue box. Press the dustbin icon to delete the comment.


Adding Strikethrough

You can add a strikethrough to the highlighted text by selecting the right icon in the dialogue box.

The strikethrough will automatically apply to the highlighted text.

To remove the strikethrough, hover your mouse over the crossed out text and click the dustbin icon.

Rubrics/Grading Forms

Rubric or Grading Forms can be associated to an assignment via the optional settings within an assignment. Click Edit Assignment from the inbox page and then expand Optional Settings.

The very last setting is to attach a rubric/form. Select your rubric/form from the dropdown list.

Adding a Rubric or Grading Form to an assignment

You can only select one Rubric or Grading Form per assignment and you can only add rubrics/forms that you have on your account. If the rubric/form was created by another user then you will need to Import it.

The Rubric/Form section will show you how to add and edit Rubrics in your library.


Marking using Rubrics/Forms

To mark, select the Rubric Scoring, which is the third icon in the blue marking toolbar.

For Grading Forms, type your comments into the boxes and enter a score if this is enabled. The Apply score to Grade button will transfer the score calculated from the Grading Form to the overall grade. save as you make them.

For Rubrics, you can slide the scale to represent where the student has scored. You will be able to see a preview of that criteria in the pane below the sliders.

Assigning comments to a Rubric Criteria

When you add a bubble comment, highlight comment or QuickMark to the interface, you will have the option to assign one of the Rubric criteria to that comment. Click on Assign Criteria at the top of the dialogue box.

You will then be able to select one of your Rubric criteria to attach to your comment. You cannot assign criteria to strikethrough or inline comments.
