Submit an assignment

Your tutor may request that you submit an assignment in Minerva using the Assignment tool.

There is a separate Turnitin Assignment tool which works in a similar way but also checks for plagiarism. This tool is not described here, please read the Turnitin Assignment guide for further information.

Tip

Read the eAssessment survival guide first to avoid common pitfalls.

How do I submit an assignment?

Find your assignment (your tutor should tell you where it is).

Assignments can be identified by their paper, pencil and ruler icon

Click on the assignment name link and you will see a page similar to the below.

The assignment submission page

To attach a file drag and drop from your PC or click the Browse button, find your file, select it and click Open. If you need to submit more than one file, repeat this process until all your files are attached.

If you wish, you can add comments for your tutor in the Add Comment text box.

Then click Submit (do not click Save as Draft as this will not send the file to your tutor).

Assignment receipt

Once submitted you will see an on screen confirmation number and receive a copy of this by email. This confirmation number can be accessed via My Grades if your tutor has made it available, and can also be accessed via the submission point.

Can I re-submit an assignment?

Not normally but it depends on the settings your tutor has chosen. If you need to re-submit and are not able to, you must contact your tutor/department.

Check your submission

Once submitted you will be taken to the 'Review Submission History'. If your tutor has graded your assignment and/or made comments these will also be displayed here at a later date. You can check this by returning to where you submitted the assignment and select its name.
