With over 8,500 students attending our events last year and 330 employers attending, our careers fairs are a perfect way to help our students consider opportunities at your organisation.

Connect with volunteers
Through volunteering, our students give their time to make a positive impact in their community whilst they gain skills, experience and confidence in return.
If you are a charity or not-for-profit organisation with roles in the Leeds area and you’re keen to engage with student volunteers, our Volunteering Team can support you to:
- find the best route to take on student volunteers and develop suitable roles for students that can fit around their academic commitments
- advertise your volunteering opportunities on our online hub, whether it’s a one-off opportunity or a more regular commitment
- get involved in our on-campus events to engage with students, such as our Volunteering Fair and programme of activities during Student Volunteering Week.
Suitable volunteering opportunities can range from helping at a weekly community gardening project, supporting an older person to overcome isolation as a befriender, providing support at a charity event, to helping to raise aspirations and build confidence in young people as a volunteer mentor.
The volunteers from the University of Leeds have been so helpful and hardworking, and we literally couldn't run our mentoring programme without them! They all bring expertise and a can-do attitude, and really help to transform the lives of the young people we work with.
To connect with student volunteers, email the Volunteering team at volunteer@leeds.ac.uk.
Access consulting expertise: Leeds Global Industry Programme
In partnership with Practera, work remotely with a team of University of Leeds postgraduate students to combine academic excellence and fresh perspectives with practical expertise to deliver impactful business solutions for your organisation.
This two-week programme is an industry consulting experience focusing on an industry need, set by you for our students to address innovatively and deliver tailored insights and an in-depth report.
The programme offers an easy, impactful way to access university expertise, support student learning, and receive high‑quality, actionable insights at no cost.
97% of employers surveyed who took part in the 2025-26 Leeds Global Industry Project rated the final reports created by students as Outstanding or High Quality.
It was great to have focused work and an outside perspective on our digital marketing. The team listened, communicated well and provided an insightful report that will inform our future digital marketing strategy.
We ask employers to:
- submit a short project brief outlining your goals
- attend a 45‑minute virtual briefing session
- commit to around 1 hour per week to review work and provide feedback
- potentially attend optional additional meetings with the student team as needed.
To find out more, email the Global Industry Programme team at globalindustry@leeds.ac.uk or find out more on the Practera website.
Host an insight event
Showcase your organisation, increase brand visibility among emerging talent, and engage with students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds by hosting an insight event with our students and graduates.
Insight events can range from half-day or full-day experiences for 20-30 students and are hosted onsite at your workplace. Activities may include networking sessions, interactive workshops, presentations and office tours.
To host an insight event, we ask that you:
- host the event onsite and design a programme that provides students with an authentic insight into your workplace, culture, and career pathways
- provide staff involvement, such as speakers, workshop facilitators, or team members available for networking
- offer a safe and inclusive environment, with any required health and safety information shared in advance
- collaborate with our Insight Events team, who will support planning, promote the event to targeted student groups, manage the application/shortlisting process and accompany students on the day.
To find out more about hosting an insight event, email the Brighter Futures team at epa.careers@leeds.ac.uk.
As a University of Leeds alumnus, I’ve seen first-hand the calibre of students that come through. I also felt confident that we’d meet candidates who were professional, well-prepared, and genuinely motivated to contribute.
If you have ideas for other ways to engage with our students or you have a general query, email the Work Based Learning and Partnerships team at workbasedpartnerships@leeds.ac.uk.
