Foundation Year Clearing vacancies

If you don’t have the formal qualifications for immediate entry to a degree course, you may be able to take a foundation course.

Sometimes known as extended degrees, foundation courses help you prepare for degree-level studies and gain the necessary academic background. On successful completion, you will then progress onto your chosen degree course.

Some of our foundation courses are designed for applicants whose backgrounds mean they are less likely to attend university (also known as widening participation backgrounds). This means we consider additional factors about your background when you apply. We encourage you to review the specific entry requirements on the foundation year course pages before applying.

To apply for a foundation course, contact us on the course-specific email address provided next to the course listing on this page. Please note that not all progression pathways are available when applying for a Foundation Year through Clearing.

You can also register to receive Clearing updates, including a notification when our full list of Clearing vacancies is available in August.

We accept a range of qualifications equivalent to A-levels, including the IB and BTECs. For more information about alternative entry requirements, please see our accepted qualification page.

Clearing listings are for September 2024 entry only. If you get a place, you won't be able to defer it to another year.
