About Foundation Year courses
If you don’t meet the entry requirements for a degree course, you may be able to take a Foundation Year course. Find out which undergraduate courses are available as progression options for UK Foundation Year students if you successfully complete your course.
Not all progression pathways are available from a Foundation Year course when applying through Clearing. For example, courses offered by the Faculty of Medicine and Health are not available.
Entry requirements
Most of our Foundation Year courses are designed for applicants whose background means they’re less likely to attend university. These courses have additional widening participation entry criteria, which you should review on the relevant course page before applying.
We accept a range of qualifications equivalent to A-levels, including the IB and BTECs. For more information about alternative entry requirements, please see our accepted qualifications page.
