Gazan Humanitarian Scholarship

The following postgraduate degrees are ineligible for this scholarship:

• Materials Science
• Physics (including Nuclear Physics)
• Mechanical Engineering
• Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering
• Chemical, Process and Energy Engineering
• Minerals Technology
• Any course that is 100% online, taught by the Digital Education Service.

Due to funding restrictions, you cannot apply for this scholarship for foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate research study.

You must apply separately to your course – applications to this scholarship are for funding only.

We can only process your application if you have received an unconditional offer of study by 20 April 2026. If your offer of study remains conditional by this deadline, your application will not be considered.

You do not need to provide evidence of your unconditional offer – we will be able to confirm this with the admissions team. We recommend applying for your programme of study as soon as possible to give yourself the best chance of receiving your offer to study before the deadline.

Email your school’s admissions team (found on the course page in Course Search) to let them know you are applying for the Gazan Humanitarian Scholarship and require an unconditional offer before 20 April 2026.

 Please note, your academic school may not be able to accommodate this request. To query your offer of study, contact your school’s admissions team.

No specific language requirements are needed for the scholarship. However, to obtain an unconditional offer to study on your programme, you will need to provide evidence of your English Language competence.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide assistance with English Language tests. While some courses may offer flexibility around language requirements, this decision lies with individual admissions teams.

Online tests such as IELTS online, TOEFL iBT Home Edition and Duolingo English Test (DET) may be accepted as well as in-person evidence from testing centres.

Support for the visa process

If you are successful in securing a scholarship, the University will support you through the visa process. It is your responsibility to ensure you are able to safely reach a visa processing centre in the country you are currently living in before applying for the scholarship.

Dependents cannot be included on a student visa application associated with this scholarship. Your dependents may be able to apply for Visit Visas while you study, but the University is not responsible for arranging this.

Access to Visa Processing Centres or Evacuation Schemes

While we will provide support with visa applications and flight arrangements wherever possible, access to visa centres and evacuation routes is outside the University’s control. This is particularly the case for applicants currently residing in Gaza.

Due to the ongoing instability of the situation in and around Gaza, the University cannot guarantee that successful applicants will be able to take up the Gazan Humanitarian Scholarship.

At any point, if it is deemed unlikely that a successful applicant will be able to travel to the UK in time to begin their programme, the University reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship offer.
