UK Excellence Masters Scholarships
We have over 30 scholarships each worth £5,000 for UK students wishing to pursue a full-time taught Masters degree.
The awards recognise and reward high academic achievement for students applying to study a full-time taught course in September 2026.
We also offer our Leeds Masters Scholarship to support students from underrepresented groups.
Eligibility criteria
To apply for a UK Excellence Masters Scholarship you must:
- Be classified as a UK student for tuition fee purposes.
- Demonstrate an excellent academic track record and are expected to attain a Bachelor degree with at least a 2:1 (Hons) or equivalent.
- Not already be enrolled on a postgraduate course.
- Have applied for 2026/2027 entry for a full-time campus-based Masters degree.
- Be self-funding for at least part of the cost of your tuition fees. This includes financial support from a friend or relative, or a postgraduate loan from the UK government.
How to apply
You will only be able to apply for this scholarship once you have a conditional or unconditional offer for a Masters course.
If you have an offer for multiple courses at the University of Leeds you will need to submit a separate scholarship application for each course.
Application deadline: 1 May 2026, 5pm (BST).
You will be notified of the outcome of your application by 17 June 2026.

To apply, you will need to complete the application form, which will take around 15 minutes to complete. You will not be able to save your progress, so make sure you have all the information ready before you begin. Make sure you have your:
- University of Leeds student ID
- University of Leeds application ID number
- 100-word (600 characters, including spaces) personal statement explaining why you have chosen to study at Leeds and why you believe you should be considered for the scholarship.
Excluded courses
- Part-time courses.
- MBA: the MBA currently offers a generous MBA excellence scholarship scheme.
- All fully online courses.
How are the scholarships awarded?
Scholarships will be awarded to high-achieving and particularly deserving applicants in the form of a £5,000 tuition fee reduction.
If you are selected for the scholarship, you will need to accept the award within the timeframe stated in your scholarship letter.
