University partnership awarded £1m to improve diagnosis of diseases

A partnership involving various research centres at the University has been awarded £1m over four years by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), to form a Diagnostic Evidence Co-operative.

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has been awarded the sum to form a Diagnostic Evidence Co-operative (DEC) focussed on generating high quality evidence on diagnostic tests for the clinical management of renal, liver and musculoskeletal diseases.

The University of Leeds partners are based in the Leeds Institute of Cancer and Pathology, Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and MusculoSkeletal Medicine, Leeds Institute of Health Sciences and Leeds Institute of Clinical Trials Research.
