Vice-Chancellor statement: Big Data Analytics

Chancellor George Osborne visited Leeds today, to outline the government's long term economic plan for Yorkshire.

In response to the Chancellor’s speech, Sir Alan Langlands, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leeds, said:

“We welcome the Chancellor’s commitment to setting aside £900 million over the next Parliament to fund new science investments, and we look forward to working with government in developing some of these major science initiatives here in Yorkshire.

"We particularly welcome his strong interest in our ambitious plans for data analytics. Developed in partnership with Leeds City Council, the NHS and a range of national and international companies, the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics will be a world-leading asset."
