The Alan Turing Institute’s special interest group on Data Visualization in partnership with Leeds Institute for Data Analytics (LIDA)
VizTIG is the Alan Turing Institute’s special interest group on Data Visualization.
It is an in-person, all-day event and comprises talks, posters and a keynote. The Symposium provides opportunities for visualization researchers and practitioners to share and discuss their latest work and maximise networks across the UK VIS community. We anticipate a mixed audience, including visualization researchers and application domain researchers, as well as interested students and industry collaborators.
Keynote: We are excited to announce our keynote speaker Jürgen Bernard. Jürgen Bernard is a non-tenured Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Zurich (UZH), Switzerland. He is leading the Interactive Visual Data Analysis (IVDA) Group. He is affiliated with the Digital Society Initiative (DSI), the interdisciplinary and cross-faculty research initiative of the UZH. Jürgen Bernard studied Computer Sciences with a focus on Computer Graphics and Biotechnology at the University of Technology of Darmstadt. He received his PhD Degree in 2015, when he was with Fraunhofer IGD. His thesis was about “Exploratory Search in Time-Oriented Primary Data”. In 2016, Jürgen Bernard started as a Post-doc researcher at TU Darmstadt at the Interactive Graphics Systems Group, leading the Visual-Interactive Machine Learning Group. In 2019, Jürgen Bernard became a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, where he joined the InfoVis group, led by Professor Tamara Munzner. For his contributions in visualization research, Jürgen was awarded the EuroVis Young Researcher Award (2021) and the Eurographics Young Researcher Award (2022).
Call for presentations: Please submit a one-page illustrated summary for a chance to present and discuss your recent research or upcoming research problems in visualization at the Symposium. Each presenter will have at least 10 minutes to present and 5 minutes for questions.
Call for posters: Please submit a 200-word abstract for a chance to present and discuss your research or research problems in visualization at the symposium at the lunchtime poster session.
Both types of submission should be made using the submission form by the deadline of 11:39 pm BST on 27 July.
Contact details: The Symposium is organised by the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics (LIDA). If you have any queries then please email lida@leeds.ac.uk, putting “VizTIG Symposium” in the subject line. We are looking forward to welcoming you to the University of Leeds!
