Judge Ioannis Ktistakis will deliver the School of Law's annual Liberty Lecture on the topic Climate Change and Human Rights Law.

While the European Court of Human Rights does not currently recognise a standalone right to a healthy environment, it has protected individuals where environmental harm impacts private and family life. With courts increasingly stepping in where politics lags behind climate science, should Strasbourg play a greater role in responding to environmental crises?

Join Judge Ioannis Ktistakis of the European Court of Human Rights as he explores the ECHR’s evolving role in climate and environmental litigation, the legal tools already available, and the constitutional challenges of judicial intervention.

This is a free event; registration is required via Tickettailor.
