Hundreds of people will gather at the University of Leeds next month as campus becomes the new home of Sue Ryder’s popular Starlight Hike fundraiser.
The event, on Saturday 10 October, will bring together students, friends, families and supporters to raise funds for Sue Ryder’s expert end-of-life care and bereavement support services.
Organised in partnership with the University’s Conferences and Events team, the Starlight Hike begins at 5.15pm with refreshments, live music and a warm-up session before walkers set off at 6.30pm.
Many participants take part dressed in colourful outfits, carrying glow sticks and embracing the event’s vibrant atmosphere.
This inspiring event brings people together in remembrance, compassion and hope while raising vital funds for expert end-of-life care and bereavement support.
There is a choice of a 5km or 10km route, each passing through the University’s campus and towards Headingley. University participants receive a 25% discount using the promo code LEEDSUNI25.

Supporting local communities
Participants are encouraged to raise sponsorship to support Sue Ryder’s work.

“Last year, Sue Ryder provided more than 655,000 hours of expert care, including from Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice, thanks to the support of people signing up to events like Starlight Hike.
“Every moment made a difference. By taking part and raising sponsorship, you’ll help ensure even more people receive the expert care and grief support they need because no one should face death or grief alone.”
Standard adult tickets start from £20 and include a Starlight Hike t-shirt and commemorative medal at the finish line. University participants can enter the promo code LEEDSUNI25 to receive a 25% discount on their registration.
