Rail industry skills training
Engage with sector-specific professional development opportunities and advance your career in the rail industry.
The University of Leeds offers a Railway Engineering with Project Management MSc (Eng), and it has also secured industry funding for PhDs. Two recent examples include:
- The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)’s White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership PhD Studentship Agreement for new technologies, travel modes, and passenger needs, understanding and predicting the future of rail travel; and
- The Network Rail-sponsored Industrial Doctoral Studentship, which looks at soil moisture deficit (SMD) and its effects on track geometry.
The University also delivers its Part-time Chartered Manager (Degree) Apprenticeship BSc to Network Rail employees. This combines professional experience and the latest research to expand skills and knowledge of fundamental business concepts, such as project management, business finance, and marketing, preparing people to progress into more senior management and leadership roles.
