Natural England

Jon Lovett, Professor of Global Challenges in the School of Geography, provides advice to Natural England on the development and use of science and evidence to support environmental delivery.

The committee is made up of trusted experts from universities, non-governmental organisations and other research institutes. Together, they critique approaches and offer suggestions on how Natural England might best respond to or apply new policy initiatives.

A wide range of issues are discussed from climate change mitigation to indicators for habitat management. Prior to his role on the committee, he was seconded to Natural England as Environmental Economist in the Chief Scientist’s team.

Professor Lovett has also played an important role in shaping international policy; he advised the Dutch Foreign Ministry on market-based solutions to technology transfer and he was part of the team who contributed to developing the energy strategy for the African Development Bank.
