BA Management with Marketing

For second year student Meg Dale-Hughes the decision to come to the University of Leeds was an easy one to make. Choosing to study Management with Marketing, a course that offers students the opportunity to combine a comprehensive understanding of the functions and processes for managing organisations, along with a specialism in marketing, was something Meg was keen to get stuck into.

As part of her first year modules, Meg was involved with the Centre for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Studies, studying some of the enterprise discovery modules, namely Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, and Innovation and Creativity in Business.

“While the Enterprise and Entrepreneurship module didn’t make me want to start my own business, the skills I learnt from both first year modules were invaluable – something which will really help me when I start looking for jobs after I graduate.” said Meg.

Having enjoyed the enterprise discovery modules so much, Meg has decided to study two more next semester: “The enterprise modules are my favourite part of my course – I really like them. Next year I’ll be studying Innovation and Social Enterprise and Managing Innovation in Business.”

She said: “I love the interactivity of the modules, they are engaging, proactive and involves a lot of team work.”

As the Marketing Intern for the Centre for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship studies, Meg has had a lot of hands on experience. She said: “As part of my role I’ve helped run an exhibition stand on recruitment and open days, promoting the enterprise modules and ‘with enterprise’ programmes. I’ve also been undertaking some market research to look at our most and least subscribed modules, to see how we can increase uptake for the latter… but I’ve genuinely grown my skill set so much.”

Meg explained: “Choosing to do the Enterprise modules has been one of the best decisions I’ve made, we are given proactive advice to help us deliver team work and presentations.”

Looking forward to the future Meg plans on doing a Year in Industry, ideally within the Marketing Department at Disney in London, with the hope to join their graduate scheme once she graduates.
