Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Student Education and Experience

Professor Wendy Robinson leads our overall education strategy, ensuring the University attracts, excites and retains high-quality students from a wide range of backgrounds. She began in post in July 2026. 

Her brief includes implementing innovative measures to ensure that students benefit from an outstanding education and excellent all-round experience, widening participation, promoting teaching excellence and innovation, and further boosting the employability of the University’s students. 

Professor Robinson is a Professor of Education whose career has combined senior academic leadership with a sustained focus on how universities deliver high-quality, inclusive education. 

From 2021, she served as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) at Lancaster University, leading the institution’s education strategy, with a focus on inclusive teaching, student insight, evolving digital provision and graduate outcomes. Prior to this, she was Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the College of Social Sciences and International Studies at the University of Exeter (2016 to 2021), where she led a large multidisciplinary academic community across education, research and international activity.  

Professor Robinson holds undergraduate and doctoral degrees from the University of Cambridge, as well as a master’s degree in education from the University of London. Her research examines the development of the teaching profession, educational policy and the evolution of education systems.
