Below are details of members of the core cities team at the University of Leeds.
Phil Purnell, Professor of Materials and Structures, School of Civil Engineering
Phil is Director of the Cities Research Theme. He works in the fields of composite durability, biomaterials, critical materials, infrastructure tensions, carbon footprints for construction materials, 3D printing and non-destructive testing.
Amy Brookes, Communications, Events and Administrative Officer
Amy is responsible for the effective running of the theme, communicating internally to our 100-plus academic network and externally to our partners, funders and interested parties. She joined the Cities team in 2019 after over five years in international marketing development at the university where she focused on partnerships. Amy is also an elected member in South Yorkshire, serving a four year term in a metropolitan borough council.
Juliet Jopson, Project Support Manager
Juliet provides project support for the Resource Recovery from Waste programme as well as the Self-Repairing Cities project. She has over ten years experience of project managing large multi-disciplinary multi-partner research projects, including working with international and non-academic partners.
