Postgraduate pre-sessional English
From
Indonesia

I didn’t expect the pre-sessional to help me get insight on what I will do in the Masters course, but actually they provided us with academic knowledge that will help me in the future, like how to write and structure an academic essay, and understanding terms like the marketing mix. The pre-sessional helped me with academic writing, and gave me clear guidance on how to write up my idea in a logical way.

While I was studying the pre-sessional, I went to events at the Language Zone every week. I joined the Indonesian association in Leeds University Union, and also went on a day trip to Lake Windermere. After I started my degree course, I didn’t have as much time to travel.

If your previous study was not in English, it’s helpful for you to gain knowledge in English, and the pre-sessional course provides you with a lot of skills, like writing, giving presentations, and speaking with other people. When you first come to another country, speaking can make you nervous – the more you practise, the better it is.

Currently I’m taking my MSc in International Business. After I finish the Masters course in September, I will go to the Netherlands for an exchange programme to continue studying international business.

Alward studied Language for Business Management and Enterprise.
