Having a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, my interest in Marketing peaked after working with a manufacturing firm where I realised the importance of marketing for every business.
I began my research and looked for courses in the UK which I believed matched what I was looking for. While filtering through the countless options for studying a Masters in Marketing in the UK, I shortlisted the University of Leeds due to the high diversity, career aid and vast module choices.
The MSc International Marketing Management course perfectly matched my requirements as it covered the vast topic of marketing through different modules related to the international market.
Student life at the University of Leeds
Moving to a different country all alone seemed like a daunting task. However, the various events organised by the University allowed me to make friends easily and helped me adjust to my new life in Leeds.
Along with this, the vast variety of societies and clubs aided in fulfilling my extra-curricular interests. Coming into a new structure of learning, the professors are very helpful and concerned about providing each student with the necessary information for them to succeed.
The best part about the University is the all the different study spaces and cafes within the campus. Apart from this, the University organises different events, both academic and extra-curricular, throughout the year. The academic events involve career advancement workshops that guide students towards their future goals while other events create an environment for students to mingle and get to know each other.
About my course
MSc International Marketing Management is a course that involves the process of marketing in different countries while keeping in mind their cultures and beliefs. The thing I love most about this course is that it covers many different elements in marketing such as consumer behaviour across cultures, marketing strategy and marketing research.
Apart from this, the course links theoretical aspects with a practical view of marketing. The professors also play a huge part in the course because they create a way of learning that is fun and interactive as well as informative. Adding to this, the professors are very proactive in clearing any doubts that any student have. This has added to the overall learning experience of my course.
Leeds as a city
As a city, Leeds has a large student population that makes it very student friendly and has several places to go out. The city centre comprises of various places to eat and hang out with your friends.
Most accommodation options are a 10 to 15 minute walk from the city centre which makes it easily accessible. In terms of safety, I feel the city is a place where everyone can walk around any time of day and feel safe. The accommodation buildings have security measures that are taken to make them accessible to only their residents.
Overall, I would say Leeds is a perfect student town with places to keep you busy apart from your university life.
