My Role

I am a Teaching Fellow and Academic Assessor within the Lifelong Learning Centre, where my primary focus is supporting and developing students on the Nursing Associate Apprenticeship programme. My role involves supporting students through the delivery of teaching as well as a focus on the practice related aspects of the course.

My teaching philosophy is built around interactive, immersive and student-centred learning. I specialise in simulation-based education, designing realistic clinical scenarios and interactive workshops to try and challenge students to apply learnt theory to practice in a safe environment. I actively incorporate interactive technologies—such as live polling platforms and QR-code-guided activities—into my sessions to foster active participation, critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving on the part of my students.

Professional experience / memberships

I am a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and have worked in various clinical, education and leadership roles within healthcare since qualifying in 2015. I also have many years of experience working as a learning representative with the Royal College of Nursing.

Research interests

My primary research and professional interests focus on innovative pedagogical strategies in healthcare education, specifically evaluating the impact of gamification, interactive technology and simulation on clinical skills acquisition and student confidence.
