My role
I lead on several modules on the Nursing Associate Apprenticeship programme here at the Lifelong Learning Centre, providing teaching and Academic Personal Tutoring as well as undertaking the role of Academic Assessor with student and employer meetings. I also work with the teaching team on our Professional Studies degree programme.
I am a registered Adult Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and have extensive experience of working in primary care as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner; prior to this I worked in palliative care at a local hospice.
I am Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and my areas of research interest include the management of diabetes, widening the participation of students from non-traditional backgrounds in higher education and the development of professional identity in Nursing Associates (with the latter being the subject of an ongoing research project).
