9 December: Preparation for Higher Education (part-time foundation year) taster

Tuesday 9 December, 10am to 1.30pm – in-person.

Thinking about returning to education? Our Preparation for Higher Education part-time foundation year (PHE) is designed especially for adult learners aged 21 and over.

This supportive course aims to help you build the skills and confidence you’ll need to progress on to a wide range of degrees at the University of Leeds, including Social Work, Nursing, Midwifery, Dental Hygiene and Therapy, Criminology and Law.

Join us on the University campus to find out more about what it’s like to study as a mature student!

Come along to learn about:

  • How PHE is designed to fit around your work and family life, with classes in the evening and on Saturdays.
  • The journeys of mature students who have returned to education.
  • The help you can get from the Lifelong Learning Centre at Leeds with careers advice, study skills, financial support and the application process.

Lunch is provided and we also have a small number of free pre-school childcare places available in the University nursery – please book at least 10 days before the event if you need childcare and we’ll call you to discuss your requirements.

21 January: Studying as a mature student

Wednesday 21 January, 10am – 1.30pm – in-person

Are you an adult looking to return to study?

This event will dispel myths and answer common questions about studying at university as a mature student.

You will:

  • Find out about courses and support for adult learners at the University of Leeds
  • Hear from some of our current mature students
  • Have the opportunity to ask questions relevant to your individual circumstances

5 February and 12 February: Supporting learning, supporting families

Thursday 5 February, 5.30pm to 7.30pm – in-person

Thursday 12 February, 6.00pm to 7.30pm – online

Learn about our part-time degrees in Child and Family Studies and Learning and Teaching with SEND.

These courses can allow you to:

  • Develop your career in education or with children, young people or families
  • Balance study around your other commitments with classes taught one afternoon or evening per week
  • Learn in a supportive environment with other adults

Financial support is also available.

26 February: Explore your potential

Are you thinking about enhancing your career?

The University of Leeds offers flexible entry routes for adult learners.

Our part-time Business Management and Leadership degree is taught in the evenings and on four Saturdays each year, so you can study alongside work or other commitments.

Business Management and Leadership is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills that can help boost your career.

It offers:

  • Supportive teaching
  • World class facilities
  • Wraparound student support

Thursday 12 March, 10.00am to 2.00pm – in-person

Tuesday 17 March, 6.00pm to 7.30pm – online

Join us in-person or online to learn about the following courses for mature learners at the University of Leeds:

Preparation for Higher Education – a part-time, evening foundation year for adults

Professional Studies – a broad degree designed for adults, available part-time or full-time

You will:

  • Try out a short taster session of each course
  • Hear from other adults who have returned to education
  • Learn about student finance and support for mature students at Leeds

Lunch and refreshments will be provided at the in-person event, and you'll also have the opportunity to explore the University campus.
