18 November: Getting into university – an introduction to applying

Tuesday 18 November, 6 to 7.30pm – in-person

Thinking about going to university as an adult learner but not sure where to start? Join us in-person at the University of Leeds to learn more about applying as an adult.

This informal session will offer plenty of opportunities to get your questions answered.

We’ll cover:

  • What to consider when choosing a university or course
  • The application process for full-time and part-time courses
  • Writing a personal statement and what to include
  • Next steps and support for mature students here at Leeds.

9 December: Preparation for Higher Education (part-time foundation year) taster

Tuesday 9 December, 10am to 1.30pm – in-person.

Thinking about returning to education? Our Preparation for Higher Education part-time foundation year (PHE) is designed especially for adult learners aged 21 and over.

This supportive course aims to help you build the skills and confidence you’ll need to progress on to a wide range of degrees at the University of Leeds, including Social Work, Nursing, Midwifery, Dental Hygiene and Therapy, Criminology and Law.

Join us on the University campus to find out more about what it’s like to study as a mature student!

Come along to learn about:

  • How PHE is designed to fit around your work and family life, with classes in the evening and on Saturdays.
  • The journeys of mature students who have returned to education.
  • The help you can get from the Lifelong Learning Centre at Leeds with careers advice, study skills, financial support and the application process.

Lunch is provided and we also have a small number of free pre-school childcare places available in the University nursery – please book at least 10 days before the event if you need childcare and we’ll call you to discuss your requirements.
