Tell us about yourself, your background and what made you choose the University of Leeds?

With a background in International Accounting and Business Management, I was eager to take my studies further and challenge myself on a global stage. The UK’s one-year Masters is a perfect experience! It meant I could immerse myself fully and achieve a world-class degree in a short, focused time.

Leeds caught my heart immediately. The University is academically prestigious and alive with energy, diversity, and ambition. I wanted to be part of a place where ideas cross borders, and Leeds offered exactly that.

What did you enjoy most about studying at Leeds?

I loved how alive the course felt. Case studies were not just assignments but windows into real business dilemmas. Through case studies, I learned lessons no textbook could ever capture. The final project, where we worked directly with a UK company, was unforgettable: I wasn’t just a student anymore, I was a consultant.

And beyond all the projects, the course taught me to think differently. Critical thinking became a daily habit, shaping not only how I work, but how I live.

What do you think the city offers students?

Leeds is a vibrant yet manageable city that feels tailor-made for students. It is a city that feels just the right size, exciting yet small enough to feel like home. Everything I needed was just a short walk away, from the buzzing campus to the vibrant city centre, making daily life very convenient.

Compared to larger cities like London, the cost of living in Leeds is much more affordable, which allowed me to focus on my studies without unnecessary financial stress and gave me the freedom to truly enjoy my time there.

As an international student, I found Leeds welcoming, safe, and easy to adapt. I never felt out of place. Leeds welcomed me with open arms, and I quickly found my rhythm between studies, friendships, and exploring life in the UK.

What would you say about the learning and the career support facilities at the University?

The support I received at Leeds went far beyond lectures.

Career advisors and workshops gave me the confidence to picture my future more clearly, while networking events connected me with people and opportunities I had only dreamed about. Those experiences still resonate today.

As a Study Abroad Senior Consultant, I often share with my students that my time at Leeds was more than just a degree. It was a turning point that shaped the professional and person I’ve become.

What have you been doing since graduating and what is your current role?

After completing my Masters degree at Leeds, I entered the international education consulting industry, where I’ve been working for many years. I currently serve as a study abroad consultant at an international education consultancy. In this role, I guide students through every stage of their academic journey, from planning and preparing strong applications to navigating the challenges of studying overseas.

My work is both strategic and deeply personal. I dedicate time to understanding each student’s story and ambitions, helping them find the best opportunities abroad. Over the years, I’ve supported hundreds of students in gaining admission to world-renowned universities. Each success reminds me of my own journey and fuels my passion for helping others achieve their dreams.

How did the skills and knowledge you developed during your Masters help your career?

My time at Leeds equipped me with skills that continue to be useful in my career. Through case studies, I learned how to analyse situations quickly and critically, which now helps me understand students’ needs and develop the right application strategies.

The consulting project that I undertook as part of my degree was especially valuable, as it gave me the chance to work with real clients, communicate effectively, and deliver practical solutions. These experiences strengthened my confidence and helped me build a professional mindset, which has been essential in establishing trust with both students and parents.

What would you say to students thinking about studying your course?

The course was, without doubt, one of the best investments I have made for myself. It did more than provide knowledge; it reshaped the way I think and the way I approach challenges. To students considering this path, if you are ready to commit and work hard, Leeds will give you the tools, opportunities, and network that can transform your career. Even after many years, I still draw on what I learned there, and it continues to open doors for both me and the students I support today.
