The Sir Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Materials aims to be a world-leading centre for advanced materials research and commercialisation. The Royce, a £235m government investment led by the University of Manchester, brings together internationally-renowned academics from across the UK, and works closely with industry to ensure commercialisation of fundamental research.

The University of Leeds is a key partner in the institute, also known as the Royce, which will support the UK manufacturing base and reduce the time it takes to take new materials from invention to market. This is expected to have a significant knock-on impact for the national economy.
