[Hetasha says:] The International Foundation Year allowed me to make a lot of friends from different cultures. 

[Heba, an International Foundation Year Design student preparing for a BA and MA in Design, appears on the screen. She is from Saudi Arabia.] 

[Heba says:] I was really surprised by the amount of international people and international students here in Leeds.

It was a really good thing for me to really start a good social life here as a student. 

[Jiacheng, an International Foundation Year Engineering student preparing for MEng Medical Engineering and PhD Medical Engineering, appears on screen. He is from China.] 

[Jiacheng says:] Studying in Leeds changed the perspective of the world for me. 

It’s very good to know different cultures, different backgrounds. 

[Hetasha appears on the screen.] 

[Hetasha says:] There's a lot of societies that support international students.  

You actually listen to their music, you engage in their type of dancing. 

[Victor, an International Foundation Year student preparing for a BEng Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering appears on screen. He is from Nigeria.] 

[Victor says:] There’s African Caribbean Society, there’s Kuwaiti Society, Indian Society, so many societies from different nations. 

[Hetasha appears on the screen.] 

[Hetasha says:] You just make a lot of friends from everywhere. 

[Victor appears on the screen.] 

[Victor says:] Chinese.  

[Hetasha appears on the screen.] 

[Hetasha says:] Kuwait, Libya.  

[Jiacheng appears on the screen.] 

[Jiacheng says:] Singapore.  

[Hetasha appears on the screen.] 

[Hetasha says:] Spain, France. 

[Jiacheng appears on the screen.] 

[Jiacheng says:] Japan. 

[Heba appears on the screen.] 

[Heba says:] Lebanon. 

[Hetasha appears on the screen.] 

[Hetasha says:] From Saudi Arabia.

[Heba says:] The US, which is really interesting.

[Hetasha says:] From some parts of Africa.

[Heba says:] There are so many countries that I've known people from. 

[Victor appears on the screen.] 

[Victor says:] I wouldn't imagine myself, even when I was small, having a friend from Dubai. We think that we are now more than friends. 

[Hetasha appears on the screen.] 

[Hetasha says:] When you have other people facing the same problem, you can just relate to each other and having a lot of international students around me, that really helped me cope with my homesickness. 

[Heba appears on the screen.] 

[Heba says:] It really makes you a lot more comfortable knowing that there are people who feel exactly the same way about either universities, or other students, it's a very positive environment. 

[Victor appears on the screen.] 

[Victor says:] You get a good connection that will help you in life. 

If I go to South Africa, my friend from Foundation, he was South African, so he’s always happy to welcome me. 

[Hetasha appears on the screen.] 

[Hetasha says:] You're making contacts at the same time, from like, all around the world and that's an advantage in itself. 

So as soon as you finish your course you can go stay anywhere in the world.
