Coming to study in the UK is a big and exciting step. You’ll join our diverse campus, with students from more than 140 different countries.
To help answer any questions you have before you start your studies with us, we host a range of events and activities for our international students
You’ll hear from staff in international teams, alumni and current students. Our activities include global webinars, Q&As, Offer Holder groups, and events in your region or country.

Global events
Applying for your student visa
Our guidance video takes you through the student visa application process, including obtaining your CAS, preparing your finances, completing your application, and submitting it successfully.

Global Pre-Departure Event
The Global Pre-Departure Event is an online event that is open to all international offer holders starting in September 2026.
You can join staff and Link to Leeds ambassadors to ask questions about travel, arrival, and what to expect during your time at Leeds. There will be an opportunity to ask any other questions you may have.
The event will take place on Wednesday 15 July, 12–1:30 pm BST.

Africa
Nigeria one-to-one appointments
Meet your University of Leeds representative, International Officer for West Africa Kellie Barratt, and ask her your questions about preparing for your studies at the University of Leeds.

Sub-Saharan Africa one-to-one appointments
Open to undergraduate offer holders from Botswana, Kenya, Mauritius, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Meet staff from the International Office to seek advice and support as you prepare to begin your studies at Leeds. A member of the team will be in touch by email to confirm your meeting.
Americas
Americas Pre-departure question and answer session
Open to offer holders from North America, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Join University of Leeds staff and current students to ask more questions about immigration and registration, travel and arrival and what to expect during your time at Leeds.
The event will take place on Tuesday 21 July, 6-7pm BST.
We recommend you to have attended live or watched the recording of the Global Pre-departure event before attending this question and answer session.

East Asia
East Asia Offer Holder online question and answer session
Open to offer holders from Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, South Korea and Taiwan.
Join our online question and answer (Q&A) session where you can ask staff and current students your questions about the University of Leeds.
The event will take place on Wednesday 5 August, 12–1pm BST.

India Pre-Departure Briefings
Join staff from the International Office and South Asia Team for our Pre-Departure events in India. You’ll learn about the next steps to prepare for your arrival in the UK, hear from alumni about their experiences studying at Leeds, and meet other offer holders in your area.

Open to offer holders from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Join our online question and answer session where you can ask staff and current students any questions you may have about the University of Leeds.
The event will take place Wednesday 5 August, 2–3pm BST.

Southeast Asia
Southeast Asia Pre-Departure Briefings
We are hosting in person pre-departure events across Southeast Asia in July and August.
Join University of Leeds staff, current students and Leeds University Union Student Societies at these in country events to ask more questions about visa and immigration, travel and arrival and what to expect during your time at Leeds.

Online Pre-departure question and answer session
Open to offer holders from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste (East Timor), and Vietnam.
Join our online question and answer session on Sunday 19 July, 8–9am BST, where you can ask staff and current students your questions about the University of Leeds.
This event will follow up from our Global Pre-departure on the 15 July, so we recommend all students attend live or watch a recording of this event in advance.

Offer Holder groups
Offer Holder groups help you connect with staff and fellow students.
They’re a great opportunity to ask questions about preparing to study at Leeds, get updates, and find out about the activities you can participate in.
All groups are hosted on WhatsApp, except China which uses QQ. Some groups are open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, while others are separated by level of study.
You’ll be invited by email to join our Offer Holder groups once you’ve received an offer to study at the University of Leeds. The subject line will read ‘Invitation to Join the University of Leeds Offer Holder Groups’.

International orientation
Our international orientation programme helps you have the best possible start in Leeds. Join webinars, talks, workshops, tours and social events to help you feel at home and meet new people.
They offer a chance to:
- Find out about the essential and optional steps to complete before you arrive, as well as the processes to follow once you’re on campus.
- Sign up for online webinars covering a range of topics, from opening a bank account and registering with a doctor to preparing for your studies at Leeds.
- Attend in-person international orientation sessions when you arrive in Leeds, especially the 'Welcome to Leeds' talk — your official introduction and welcome to the University.
- Discover our campus and city by booking a campus or city chase tour.
- Meet people through a variety of social events happening across campus.
