Leeds Summer Research Programme
The Leeds Summer Research Programme (LSRP) provides high-achieving international undergraduate students with research experience at the University of Leeds.
The programme combines supervised, hands-on research projects and the vibrant social and cultural programme of Leeds International Summer School (LISS). You will work closely with Leeds academics on defined research projects, contributing to research activity while gaining valuable academic and professional experience in a world-class research environment.
The six-week research experience will run from 3 July to 14 August 2027.
Applications will open in December 2026.
Research experience
Research projects will be published when applications open with opportunities available across many, if not all faculties:
- Arts, Humanities and Cultures
- Engineering and Physical Sciences
- Environment and Social Sciences
- Health and Life Sciences
- Leeds University Business School
You will work with a dedicated supervisor and other academic staff on the research project for six weeks. The programme involves 35 hours of research activity per week, plus approximately 30 hours of pre-arrival preparation and tasks. It will culminate in a research showcase where participants present their work.

The Leeds Summer Research Programme is worth 24 Leeds credits, equivalent to 12 ECTS or 6 US credits. Because of the full-time commitment required, you cannot enrol on taught LISS modules at the same time.

To apply for the Leeds Summer Research Programme, you must meet the standard LISS entry requirements and any specific prerequisites for your chosen projects.
