Hello! I am Mahima and I am from Kerala, a beautiful state in the southern part of India. I am currently pursuing my MSc in Advanced Computer Science at the University of Leeds.

I completed my schooling from Kuwait and did my Bachelors in Computer Science and Engineering from Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology, Kerala. I also worked in Cognizant Technology Solutions for over a year before coming for my Masters at Leeds.

I first heard about the University of Leeds through friends and seniors. I decided to choose the University of Leeds to pursue my Masters not only because it is a member of the prestigious Russell Group but is also amongst the top 100 universities in the world. Moreover, it is one of the top universities in the UK for Computer Science courses and has a high student satisfaction and graduate employability rate.

I have found my time at the University to be every bit enriching holistically. It has been the perfect balance of academics alongside a fun student life. The curriculum consists of a range of modules that give the support and skills to succeed in a variety of careers.

The part I found the most attractive is that the one-year masters covers subjects that are currently trending in the industry and the assessment and teaching pattern is highly practical oriented and not just focussed on theoretical concepts. Also, the department consists of faculty members who are industry experts and top researchers in their fields.

I have also found the University's resources such as Careers Centre and Joblink to be very useful. The full-time and part-time vacancies advertised regularly, the career fairs and the one-to-one sessions and support have been very beneficial.

Aside from academics, the University also provides plenty of opportunities for a holistic and memorable student experience. The Leeds University Union has over 300 clubs and societies where everyone can find something that caters to their interests and hobbies. There are also regular events, socials and parties organized by the University.

Leeds in general is a diverse city that has everything to offer from clubs, pubs and parties to peaceful parks, canals and museums. The Leeds City Centre is worth mentioning with its variety of restaurants, cafes, shopping centres and more.

In my spare time I enjoy exploring the city and enjoying the unique British weather. I also had the opportunity to be part of a 50km walk from Skipton to Leeds alongside the beautiful Thanet canal with views of breath taking sceneries, lush green pastures with livestock and of course the scenic waterway.

I live in a privately rented house near the University with my housemates who are also students at the University of Leeds. It is located near the Woodhouse Ridge which is a beautiful strip of woodland. We enjoy going there to see the sunrise or just for a refreshing stroll.

If you have any queries regarding the University, Leeds, accommodations or the student life in general, feel free to get in touch with me!
