Student Opportunities and Futures Strategy
During and after your studies at the University of Leeds, you’ll have a lot to think about and we want you to be able to do so in an open and safe setting.
Our Student Opportunities and Futures Strategy is designed to help you keep on track with your studies while also providing support and opportunities to support your long-term aspirations.
Overarching strategy principles
1. Student autonomy
You've got big dreams and we want to help you make them happen. We're here to support you in your journey towards a successful future.
We want you to define what that looks like for yourself, and we'll provide you with the support and resources to get there.
2. Delivery in partnership
At the University of Leeds you are encouraged to develop the skills you need to succeed in your life.
We believe this responsibility is one that extends beyond academics, student services and career advisers; it is a university-wide responsibility.
That is why we will work together to make sure every opportunity is accessible and integrated.
3. Equitable access and opportunity
We're here to make sure that everyone has a chance to learn, grow, and succeed at the University of Leeds.
You will have equal access to the best opportunities within and beyond the curriculum, and extra support will be given to those who are currently not engaged with them or who come from underrepresented groups.
4. Sense of belonging
You will be part of our decision-making and the creation of opportunities.
As part of a supportive lifelong community, you have the chance to explore and connect with like-minded people to help you to create the best possible future.
Whether you’re interested in entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, or a career in technology, you will always belong to this community.
5. Industry and data informed
Our goal is to help you build a career that's as fulfilling and rewarding as possible.
We do this by integrating industry-related and data-driven approaches into all aspects of our curriculum, from you planning to join the university through to graduation.
We also incorporate external partners to support your needs.
