Staff wellbeing and support

We believe in supporting our staff and provide a range of wellbeing and support services for everyone who works for the University.

Human resources

Each faculty or service area of the University has its own dedicated HR team so you always have someone to contact should you need any help or support.

If you have general queries about holiday entitlement, pensions, staff benefits or salaries, our HR website has lots of helpful information.

Occupational Health

Our Occupational Health team can help you with health difficulties which affect your work, or if work is affecting your health.

Talk with someone who can help

If you've got a problem or need some advice, have a chat with one of our specialists. Our counselling service and chaplaincy are completely confidential and they'll be happy to help.

We also have prayer and contemplation facilities and a mediation service.

Trade Unions

If you need help with an employment-related matter, the recognised trade unions, UCU, Unite and UNISON, provide help and support to their members.

Relocating to Leeds

If you’re moving to the Leeds area from elsewhere in the UK or from overseas, our International HR team can help with information about applying for visas, transport connections, childcare facilities and local leisure activities. Email the International HR team via internationalHR@leeds.ac.uk.

Staff induction

We want you to settle into your new work environment as quickly as possible. Our probation process is designed to give you the support you need to perform in your role to the best of your ability.

We hold regular induction sessions for new starters to welcome you and introduce you to the wider University. These sessions give you the chance to meet the Vice-Chancellor and learn about the University community and our values.

After the induction, you’ll also have the opportunity to take a walk around our induction fair, which will familiarise you with our campus.

Additional induction sessions run by Organisation and Professional Learning can help you learn about more specific areas of the University, such as student education and research and innovation.

Staff intranet

Our intranet for staff will keep you informed of what’s going on at the University. You can learn about events on campus, read recent news stories and find important guidance and policies all in one place.

Smokefree campus

Our campus is now smokefree between 8am and 6pm. Read more about the University's smokefree campus initiative.
