Prepare for undergraduate studies or the International Foundation Year programme.

Are you planning to study undergraduate modules in semesters 1 or 2 or prepare for an undergraduate degree programme?

The programme will:

  • help you to improve your level of English to meet university requirements
  • develop your knowledge of academic English
  • improve your academic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills
  • provide you with an introduction to the University of Leeds and studies in the UK

You can study on the Academic English for Undergraduate Studies pre-sessional programme full-time, with entry points in October, January and April, with the possibility of continuing your studies in the summer period. Find out more about the summer course here.

Course facts
Class times and class size  Classes take place during 9.00 - 17.00 Monday – Friday. Typically maximum class sizes are between 16 and 18 students per class, however this may vary suited to the type of class.
Minimum enrolment age The minimum age for students studying on this course is 18 years old.

*In the case of students under the age of 18 who apply to study a pre-sessional Academic English for Undergraduate Studies course before joining the International Foundation Year, exceptions may be made on an individual basis. - Access to university facilities and services. Please note that for use of the University’s Sports Centre on campus, ‘The Edge’, there will be a user charge 
- Scheduled course excursions e.g. to York, Whitby, or another place of interest
