Our virtual events offer general information on studying as a mature student, financial support, pathways and entry requirements.

Throughout the year, we host many exciting opportunities to engage in free, fun and accessible online sessions to help you find out more about the Lifelong Learning Centre's full and part-time preparation courses and degrees for adults.

Studying at university as a mature student

Whether you are thinking of doing a degree for your career or to follow a lifelong passion, there is no such thing as a ‘typical’ mature student. This online workshop will dispel some myths and answer common questions about studying as an adult.

An introduction to student finance

Join our free online session that covers a number of finance areas, including the application process, fees, loans and grants available to you, and the extra support for mature students at the University of Leeds.

Full and part-time course sessions

Join an online session where we explore a variety of topics relating to our full-time and part-time courses, hear from our programme managers delivering taster lectures, and ask questions to our current students.

Creating a positive learning environment

Tuesday 20 April, 12.30–2pm

Whether it's remote learning, supporting homework or getting used to school again after lockdown, a positive learning environment is an important aspect of any child or young person's education. This informal, online session will explore motivation for learning. We will look at ways to create a conducive environment to encourage engagement in learning. It will be a chance to find out more about Foundation Degrees in Learning and Teaching and Special Educational Needs and Disability, part-time courses for adults working or volunteering.

Arts and Humanities Foundation Year taster session

Wednesday 21 April, 12.302pm

Join us on Zoom to explore foundation year study in Arts and Humanities at the Lifelong Learning Centre. This taster session will introduce the BA Arts and Humanities with Foundation Year extended degree at the University of Leeds.

The session will include an introduction to thinking about Arts and Humanities study and provide an opportunity to hear from current students. Speak with the course team to learn more about critical thinking and creative learning at Level 0, as well as the pathways to progress at the University of Leeds.

Professional Studies taster session – Exploring leadership for a changing world

Wednesday 28 April, 5.30–7pm

Thursday 6 May, 1–2.30pm (repeat session)

In this interactive, online session we will think together about what kind of leadership is needed to tackle the challenges facing our changing world. We will share ideas about what leadership skills are and what we can all do to create positive change when we work together. The session will be a taster for Professional Studies, a degree designed specifically for adults, which builds on your life and work experience.
