Realising Opportunities

We are part of Realising Opportunities (RO), a collaboration of 14 research-intensive universities working together to promote fair access and social mobility of students from groups underrepresented in higher education.

The benefits

We deliver the RO programme over two years to selected students at partner schools in the region. Programme activities are designed to raise the aspirations of RO students to apply to, and succeed at, leading research-intensive universities. Access to information and support throughout the programme helps students to transition to higher education study and to make a fully informed choice about their university options.

Students who are successful on the programme will receive additional consideration on their UCAS application if they apply to an undergraduate course with us. This means they can be offered lower entry requirements than listed on our course pages. They may also be able to get the same consideration at the other RO partner universities.

Exemptions

Participating schools, colleges and students are identified on the basis of widening participation criteria. We don’t accept direct applications to the scheme from students not attending a partner school/college.

RO cannot be applied to courses including a foundation year.

Current RO applicants should always consult the RO Recognition Guide for course exemptions at partner universities.
