The tuition fee for the 2021 International Foundation Year (IFY) is £19,000. There are different ways you can pay your tuition fees

Scholarships for the International
Foundation Year 

There are a range of scholarships available to students wishing to study the International Foundation Year beginning in September 2021. In order to apply for a scholarship, you must first hold an offer of study for the September 2021 intake. 

IFY Excellence Scholarship

How much is it worth? £5,000 deducted from the International Foundation Year tuition fee.

Who is eligible? Overseas fee-paying applicants who have been offered a place on the International Foundation Year. There are three awards available.

Eligible courses: All International Foundation Year routes.

Application deadline: The deadline is 30 June 2021.

Apply for the International Foundation Year Excellence Scholarship.

Terms and conditions: Applicants must be self-funding and not in receipt of other fee scholarships, new to the University of Leeds, enter onto level 0 and classified as international for tuition fee purposes and not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award.

Middle East Scholarship (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain)

How much is it worth? £3,000 deducted from the International Foundation Year tuition fee.

Who is eligible? Overseas fee-paying applicants who have been offered a place on the International Foundation Year from the following countries:

  • Egypt  
  • Jordan
  • Lebanon
  • Bahrain

Eligible courses: All International Foundation Year routes.

Application deadline: The deadline is 31 August 2021. Applicants must meet the terms and conditions and fill in the International Foundation Year Scholarship Declaration form.

Terms and conditions: Applicants must be self-funding and not in receipt of other fee scholarships, new to the University of Leeds, entering onto Level 0 and classified as international for tuition fee purposes and must not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award. Applicants must be a national of, and domiciled in, the stated countries above and fill in the International Foundation Year Scholarship Declaration form.

South East Asia Scholarship (Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia)

How much is is worth? £3,000 deducted from the International Foundation Year tuition fee.

Who is eligible? Overseas fee-paying applicants who have been offered a place on the International Foundation Year from the following countries:

  • Thailand
  • Indonesia
  • Malaysia

Eligible courses: All International Foundation Year routes.

Application deadline: The deadline is 31 August 2021. Applicants must meet the terms and conditions and fill in the International Foundation Year Scholarship Declaration form.

Terms and conditions: Applicants must be self-funding and not in receipt of other fee scholarships, new to the University of Leeds, entering onto Level 0 and classified as international for tuition fee purposes and must not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award. Applicants must be a national of, and domiciled in, the stated countries above and fill in the International Foundation Year Scholarship Declaration form.

South Asia Scholarship (Japan, Taiwan, South Korea)

How much is is worth? £2,000 deducted from the International Foundation Year tuition fee.

Who is eligible? Overseas fee-paying applicants who have been offered a place on the International Foundation Year from the following countries:

  • Japan 
  • Taiwan 
  • South Korea

Eligible courses: All International Foundation Year routes.

Application deadline: The deadline is 31 August 2021. Applicants must meet the terms and conditions and fill in the International Foundation Year Scholarship Declaration form.

Terms and conditions: Applicants must be self-funding and not in receipt of other fee scholarships, new to the University of Leeds, entering onto Level 0 and classified as international for tuition fee purposes and must not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award. Applicants must be a national of, and domiciled in, the stated countries above and fill in the International Foundation Year Scholarship Declaration form.

Science Scholarship

How much is it worth? £2,000 deducted from the International Foundation Year tuition fee.

Who is eligible? Overseas fee-paying applicants who have been offered a place on the International Foundation Year for the following courses: Biology, Ecology & Conservation Biology, Genetics, Zoology, Biological Sciences, Biological Sciences (Biotechnology with Enterprise), Human Physiology, Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemistry and Mathematics, Food Science, Advanced Psychology, Medical Microbiology, Medical Sciences, Microbiology, Neuroscience, Nutrition, Pharmacology, Psychology, Psychology with Education, Sport and Exercise Sciences, Sport and Exercise Sciences, Sports Science and Physiology, Biochemistry, Medical Biochemistry, Physics, Physics with Astrophysics, Theoretical Physics, Environmental Science, Psychology and Food Science and Nutrition.

Eligible courses: Applicants for the above listed courses.

Scholarships once you have completed the programme
