Social activities

During University term time (September to June), you can attend events organised by the Leeds University Union, and choose from more than 300 student-led clubs and societies. You can meet new people and practise your English while taking up or continuing with a hobby.

During the summer (July to August), you can take part in the Language Centre social programme. It's run by our social assistants, who are current students or recent graduates. They know Leeds and the campus very well and can help you have fun and settle into life at Leeds.

What to expect from the social programme:

  • love your time at Leeds
  • get to know the campus and the city
  • meet new people and make friends
  • visit places in the UK such as York, Liverpool and the English countryside
  • practise your English in a relaxed environment
  • take part in social events like restaurant trips, film club and sports
  • get help and recommendations from the social assistants

Many of the social activities are free, but some may cost £10 to £20.

You'll also have opportunities to practise your language skills outside of classes through the Language Zone.
