During the academic year, we offer Masters pre-sessional courses starting in September/October or January.
With our academic year courses, you’ll be able to:
- learn the academic English you’ll need to study at postgraduate level
- get to know other Masters students and build a community of peers
- become familiar with University facilities such as libraries, study spaces and learning platforms, and settle into life in Leeds.
The length of course you need depends on your current level of English and on the level required for your degree.

2023/24 courses and entry requirements
If you'll be studying a Masters, and you’ll start your pre-sessional English course in October 2023 or January 2024, use this list to check which course you can study. If you have an English qualification that isn’t IELTS (International English Language Testing System), see our English language equivalent qualifications page.
