Our students

We have a diverse student community. Some people join us straight from school or college and some return to study after a gap. There is no such thing as a typical student, but we recognise that starting at university as a mature, part-time or Foundation Year student can be a different experience.

Some come to university as part of their career development or for a career change. Others are retired, maybe taking the opportunity to engage with a subject that is a particular passion.

We aim to make your personal experience of studying at the University of Leeds a happy, rewarding and successful one.

Since returning to education as a mature student, I balance study with my children and job by being organised and making the most of the facilities at Leeds.
