Confirming your place Frequently Asked Questions

Find out the answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) about confirming your place at the University of Leeds.

How do I know if I’ve been accepted?

Once you have your results, log in to UCAS to see if you’ve been accepted.

I’ve logged into UCAS and I’ve been accepted, what do I need to do next?

You don’t need to do anything further at this stage. You’ll be emailed with details on the next steps and you can find out more information on your next steps after confirming your place.

UCAS doesn’t seem to have been updated. Have I been accepted?

If no decision is visible on UCAS, this is typically because we’re still waiting to receive confirmation of your exam results, or Leeds was your insurance choice and we’re waiting for your firm choice institution to update your record.

If you’ve met or exceeded the conditions of your offer then your place with us is secure.

What happens if I don’t meet the requirements of my offer from Leeds?

Discuss your options with your school or college. This might include searching Clearing courses at other institutions, taking a year out or reassessing your grades.

We no longer have places available for entry in 2024, so we're not accepting any more Clearing applications. If you'd like to be considered for 2025 entry, take a look at our courses and reapply through UCAS.

I’ve asked for a re-mark or I am appealing my results. Will my place be held for me?

For clinical courses within the schools of Medicine, Dentistry and Healthcare, we must receive your re-marked or appealed results by 31 August 2024. For most other courses, the deadline is 4 September 2024, though for some courses an alternative deadline may be specified in your offer letter. If you meet the conditions of your offer by the relevant date, we’ll typically hold your place for you, but we can’t guarantee that you’ll be accepted for 2024 entry if the course is full.

I’ve been offered a place on a course I didn’t apply for. What does this mean?

If you haven’t met the requirements for the course you have applied for, we may have offered you a place on an alternative course that we think might interest you. You can find further information about this course on our website. If you’d like to discuss this change of course, please refer to the details on your offer email.

Leeds is my insurance choice and another university is my firm. I'd like to swap and come to Leeds instead.

This will depend on the course your originally applied for. Please email the relevant admissions team for them to advise you further.

I’d like to defer my place until next year. How do I do this?

This will depend on the course you’re planning to study. To check if a change of start date is possible, email the relevant admissions team.

How do I get in touch with the Admissions team?

You can find the email address for your course’s admissions team on Course Search and in your original offer letter.
