A transcript for a video embedded on the Offer Holder Days webpage.
[Upbeat, optimistic music begins]
[Visual: An aerial shot of the University of Leeds campus which then focuses on the large Parkinson Building and its clock tower against a blue sky, and then a large, bustling crowd of students at an outdoor campus event.]
Bethany Dunn: Congratulations on your offer. We can't wait to see you around campus.
Hira Faisal: But you might be wondering, now what?
[Visual: Students walk beneath a large banner that reads, "Welcome to Leeds. Congratulations on your offer!" A student ambassador in a red t-shirt gives directions to a family.]
Bethany Dunn: [Caption: Bethany Dunn, English Literature with Creative Writing BA] An offer holder day differs from an open day because it's much more focused.
[Visual: Bethany stands in a courtyard. Quick cuts show students in different learning environments: a student uses a haptic dental simulator, a lecturer points to a diagram in a seminar, and a student solders a circuit board.]
Hira Faisal: They can feel a lot more personal, give you a taster of what your course is going to be like.
[Visual: Harriet speaks in front of a green plant wall.]
Harriet Townsend: [Caption: Harriet Townsend, Midwifery (Blended Learning) BSc] It's a chance to find out the specifics of your subject.
Hira Faisal: [Caption: Hira Faisal, Dental Surgery MChD/BChD] And the people you'll be meeting are people who are your fellow applicants and people who you are likely to be meeting in September.
[Visual: Students sit in a classroom, sketching a model of a human head.]
[Visual: Students in grey lab coats work with small, colourful building blocks at a table. Other students in a computer lab work on electronics.]
Hira Faisal: At an offer holder day, students can expect to get a taster of what facilities the university has to offer.
[Visual: A staff member in a white lab coat gives a tour of a facility to a small group of prospective students and their families.]
Harriet Townsend: There's also information fairs…
[Visual: A shot of a multi-storey student accommodation building. Two students walk into the entrance of a modern residence hall. A student ambassador at an outdoor information stall helps a family.]
Rachel McCormack: ...talks about accommodation, finance, and bursaries.
[Visual: Rachel stands in front of the Roger Stevens Building. Quick cuts show students in a science lab wearing safety goggles, a dental student guiding another on a simulator, and a staff member in a clinical room speaking to students.]
Rachel McCormack: You get much more of a chance to meet teaching staff and meet professors one-on-one and ask any questions that you didn't get to ask on the open day.
[Music swells]
[Visual: An aerial shot sweeps over the campus and the Leeds city skyline. This is followed by an aerial view of Leeds City Square, a public space in the city centre.]
Bethany Dunn: The city itself is beautiful. There's so much to do in Leeds.
[Visual: More aerial views of the city. Quick, stylized shots of city landmarks, including the Leeds Art Gallery, Leeds City Museum, and the Town Hall.]
Harriet Townsend: There's something for everyone.
Hira Faisal: It's a bustling city. So many shopping centres, markets, so many places to eat.
[Visual: A shot of a sculpture on a university building. Quick cuts of popular student spots in the city: the Brudenell Social Club, a live band performing in a dark venue, Mr Su's restaurant, Belgrave Music Hall, the historic Leeds Kirkgate Market, and the circular Corn Exchange building.]
Rachel McCormack: [Caption: Rachel McCormack, Biology BSc] Since starting my first year, I've been to live music events. There's also a huge, huge food scene. I would recommend Kirkgate Market and the Corn Exchange.
[Visual: Rachel stands outside the edge. There are then several shots of university building including Nexus.]
Rachel McCormack: Life at the University of Leeds definitely provides you with some amazing opportunities.
[Visual: A close-up of the Leeds University Union sign. Students mill around outdoor stalls and a large white marquee for the "Clubs & Societies" fair. A large crowd of students walks along the main campus thoroughfare.]
Hira Faisal: The Union offers over 300 clubs and societies, so there's definitely something for everyone here.
[Visual: A shot of the sign for "The Edge," the university's sports centre.]
Rachel McCormack: There's also The Edge. It's our state-of-the-art sports facilities. We have a swimming pool, a sauna...
[Visual: An aerial shot of The Edge building, followed by an aerial view of an outdoor sports court. Inside the gym, shots show a functional fitness area with a punching bag, a student using a leg extension machine, and a row of rowing machines.]
Hira Faisal: There's a gym, workout classes. There's something for everyone at whatever level you want to begin at.
[Visual: Ground-level shots looking up at the grand columns and clock tower of the Parkinson Building against a clear blue sky.]
Harriet Townsend: My offer holder day was what sealed the deal for me.
[Visual: In a residence hall, a prospective student looks at a red sign pointing to a "Show flat." Groups of students and parents are shown touring the campus. A lecturer stands in front of a slide titled "Course Organisation" during a taster session.]
Bethany Dunn: I actually came not expecting to choose Leeds, and I left choosing Leeds.
[Visual: A student works at a computer in a lab.]
Rachel McCormack: And it definitely just solidified that Leeds was where I wanted to come.
Hira Faisal: Congratulations on your offer.
Bethany Dunn: We can't wait to see you...
Rachel McCormack: ...on your offer holder day.
