Frequently asked questions
I am planning to apply to Access to Leeds for 2021 entry. Is there anything I should know?
Despite the current circumstances, Access to Leeds will continue to run as normal. If you are eligible for the scheme and you are successful in receiving an offer on your chosen course, you will receive an Access to Leeds offer alongside your standard offer.
Are there going to be any changes to the Access to Leeds programme?
Although we will continue to adapt to the changing circumstances, we aim to ensure that the impact on Access to Leeds is minimal. We will be holding our events online for the foreseeable future and we may need to make some slight changes to our module, depending on the circumstances at that point. However, Access to Leeds students will not be disadvantaged and we will always keep you updated on any changes.
Will the disruption caused by the covid-19 pandemic be considered under the 'disruption to studies' criterion?
No, we cannot consider the general disruption caused by the covid-19 pandemic, unless your circumstances are extreme. You must be able to demonstrate how the pandemic has impacted your studies in a way that is above and beyond the extent of the disruption experienced by the rest of your cohort. Situations we may consider include:
-
you have experienced serious illness as a result of covid-19 and spent a prolonged period in hospital
-
you have suffered a close bereavement due to covid-19
-
you have significant or increased caring responsibilities (ie caring for someone extremely clinically vulnerable)
-
it has created or exacerbated a very difficult or dangerous domestic situation.
You and your referee must be prepared to detail your circumstances and possibly provide evidence where we require it in order to validate your eligibility.
We consider all applications on an individual basis. If you are not sure whether your circumstances fulfil our eligibility criteria, please get in touch before applying and our helpful team will assist as much as possible.
I have a question that isn’t answered here. How do I contact Access to Leeds?
You can contact the Access to Leeds team via email at accesstoleeds@leeds.ac.uk. We will respond as soon as we can but there may be a delay during busy periods. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to take telephone queries.
