Bragg Centre Management Committee

Members at all career stages can contribute to the running of the Centre and gain valuable leadership experience.

Our Management Committee plays a key role in shaping the Centre’s strategic direction and activities. Members contribute to decision-making, represent their communities and work as part of a senior team.

To learn more about our community, governance and current PhD representatives, visit our Team and governance page.

Early-career researchers

We have a variety of dedicated funding opportunities and events available to early-career researchers, including PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and those transitioning to independent research.

Bragg on Tour travel fund

The Bragg on Tour travel fund supports early-career researchers at the University of Leeds to visit strategic partners in industry or national materials facilities within the UK.

Eligible visits should aim to develop new and existing partnerships, explore potential career opportunities and engage with facilities that could benefit your research.

Bragg PhD Colloquium

Our PhD Colloquium takes place each June. It is a space to network with other PhD students from across the University and practice presenting your research to your peers in a friendly and supportive environment.

Supervise an undergraduate intern

Support an upcoming cohort of materials researchers by supervising an undergraduate student completing a summer internship involving your facility. This is a great opportunity to build your mentoring experience, develop leadership skills and contribute to early-career development.

Established career researchers

There is an opportunity to access a programme of support as an experienced materials researcher further along in your career.

Support with funding applications

We can connect you with Henry Royce Institute funding opportunities, including the Industrial Collaboration Programme, as well as a range of other partner initiatives.

Commercialise your research and collaborate with businesses

We can help you commercialise and translate your research by connecting you with business development and commercialisation professionals within the University. You’ll be able to access guidance on topics such as patenting, licensing and forming spinouts.

We can also connect you with other organisations in the materials research community. We encourage businesses to involve our members in their research and innovation projects, building long-term partnerships and delivering collaborative projects.

Host an undergraduate intern

Guide and support the materials researchers of the future by involving an undergraduate internship student in one of your research projects. These projects are a valuable opportunity to develop mentorship skills and gain experience in scientific leadership.

The call for projects opens in late autumn each year. Bragg Centre members are invited to submit project proposals for summer the following year.
