Calls from current Leeds students

Each year we set out to speak to as many of our alumni and supporter community as possible.

You may receive a letter or email from us to let you know we may try to call you soon, or to ask if you would like to speak to a current Leeds student and provide the best number to contact you on.

When do we call?

Throughout the year, typically linked to the University terms.

Who do we call?

The fantastic Leeds alumni and supporter community.

Why do we call?

To catch up and update you about what’s happening at Leeds.

How the calls work

It doesn’t matter how long ago you graduated, or what you are doing now. We want to connect you back to your time at Leeds and update you on what is happening here today.

You’ll speak to a current student who is experiencing many of the same things you did whilst at Leeds, and we try our best to match you with a student where you share something in common. This could be the course you studied, the halls you lived in, any interests you have told us about – or simply that you have both studied at the University of Leeds.

Our team of students use this common ground to have a great conversation with you and inspire your support of the University of Leeds. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to learn about the exciting ways in which Leeds has evolved.

We have different levels of support you can offer, whether it’s volunteering your time or making a donation in support of current students. We know that not everybody we speak to is able to share their time or make a donation when we call, but our students still value the opportunity to talk to you about your time at the University.

After your call, the student you spoke to will send you an email or letter in the post with any information you may have requested, or simply to say a big thank you for taking the time to speak to them.

Every person who makes a donation receives a thank you letter and regular updates on the impact of their gift.

I really enjoyed hearing about the different experiences alumni had studying at Leeds. My favourite call was with a lady who worked as a clinical psychologist, a field I really wanted to end up in. She was really encouraging about what next steps I should take after graduation. I followed her advice and now I’m working as a Mental Health Support Worker.
