Our free on-campus and online events will help you find out more about the Lifelong Learning Centre’s foundation years and our full and part-time degrees for adult learners.

You can also join us at our general sessions, where we will cover topics such as student finance, returning to education and support for mature students.

An introduction to student finance

Thinking about going to university as an adult learner but worried about the money part? Want to find out more about the financial support available to you?

Join us for an online event to learn about:

  • applying for student finance as a mature student
  • loans and grants available from Student Finance England for full-time and part-time degree courses
  • additional financial assistance you could be entitled to
  • support available to mature students at the University of Leeds.

Pathways to higher education for adult learners

Interested in returning to education as an adult but not sure which path to take? Join us at the Lifelong Learning Centre to explore how adult learning can expand your horizons.

Find out about the support on offer and try out tasters of part-time and full-time pathways and degrees designed for mature students.

Supporting learning, supporting families

Interested in developing your career in education or with children, families or young people? Want to study in a supportive environment with other adults?

Join us at the Lifelong Learning Centre to learn about how our part-time degrees in Child and Family Studies and Learning and Teaching with SEND. Try out a course taster and meet tutors and students.

Classes are taught one afternoon or evening per week to fit around your commitments, and financial support is available.

Studying as a mature student

Wednesday 10 July, 6pm to 7.30pm

This event is online.

Whether you’re thinking about doing a degree for your career or following a lifelong passion, there’s no such thing as a ‘typical’ mature student.

This online event will dispel some myths and answer common questions about studying as an adult.

Applicant drop-in sessions for adult learners

If you have questions about your application or would like some help with applying, you'd be very welcome to attend one of our applicant drop-in sessions for adult learners, which happen every Tuesday from 2pm to 5pm at our Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Building location.

There's no need to book - just pop along and LLC staff members will be available to answer your questions and help you with your application.

We can help you with:

  • Completing your part-time application form or your full-time online application via UCAS
  • Writing your personal statement
  • Applying for student finance
  • Preparing for your Alternative Entry test(s) if applicable
  • Understanding any other entry conditions you've been asked to meet

Please note that the University will be closed on Tuesday 28 May 2024 and there will be no drop-in on this date.
