We are committed to addressing barriers to higher education for underrepresented and minoritised groups at all levels of study.

Leeds Access to Research Scholarship

The Leeds Access to Research Scholarship (LARS) is open to prospective Home (UK) doctoral students from Black, Asian and other minoritised ethnic groups who have submitted an application to study for a a PhD.

Up to five awards are available each year, covering full academic fees for three years and an annual maintenance grant at the UKRI rate for three and a half years (part-time awards are pro rata).

These scholarships represent our wider commitment to widening access to postgraduate research, including our work as a member of Yorkshire Consortium for Equity in Doctoral Education.

White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership/Stuart Hall Foundation Awards

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership (WRDTP) is working with the Stuart Hall Foundation to support two PhD studentships for Black British students.

The ESRC WRDTP Awards will support the next generation of Black British social science researchers conducting research aligned with the Foundation’s mission.
