The Learning Design Agency is a curriculum enhancement function that will support, facilitate and help design conversations that draw upon Student Education expertise from both within and outside the University.

James Pickering – Academic Director
James has research interests in technology-enhanced learning. He helps colleagues realise their ambitions for student education and enhancing the student experience across their programmes.

Iria Lopez – Senior Designer
Iria specialises in people-centered design. She supports colleagues with design-led practices and guides them through people-centered design and design sprints.

Terry Owens – Head of Operations
Terry leads, designs and implements the operational activity for the LDA. He can connect collegues to the right support and subject experts and help develop curriculum design-related workshops.

Louise Woodcock – Business Lead
Louise leads the LDA’s academic development provision for student education, research and PGRs. She advises colleagues on innovation and research, academic inclusivity and diversity.
Academic Design Consultants
Our Academic Design Consultants (ADCs) are academics who specialise in supporting the schools' academic design needs within the University.

Caitriona Dennis
Caitriona has a background in research, specialising in structural biology and biophysics. She draws on her academic background to help colleagues enhance students' learning experiences.

Cathy has nearly 30 years’ experience in higher education, including teaching, working on student experience projects and institutional strategies. She supports course and staff development.

Eva is passionate about making transformative learning experiences available to all students, regardless of background. She helps with interdisciplinary programme design, creative pedagogies and more.

Cynthia is a experimental physicist and physics education researcher. She uses her varied and international experiences to help colleagues shape shared learning and teaching at the University.

Allie is an experienced practitioner, consultant, and educator in the arts, heritage and cultural industries. She helps colleagues with building knowledge and confidence within their work.

Richard’s academic focus is on critical digital pedagogies and inclusive practices. He helps colleagues with equity, diversity, and inclusion, assessment, design thinking and active learning.
